How To Get Involved

The Hart House Camera Club is for students, staff, and alumni who have a mutual interest in the art of photography. While originally set up in 1919 for the University of Toronto community, Hart House Camera Club membership is now available to any member of Hart House.

If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, e-mail the club at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Step 1: Join our group on Facebook and Flickr and follow us on Twitter

On our Facebook group we post information about upcoming events, information about the club and get feedback from our members.

Step 2: Come to our events

We hold photography related events all-year round. Events include photography outings, workshops, monthly exposed sessions and more. You can always find the most up-to-date information about upcoming (and past) events on the website.

Step 3: Join the club

The Hart House Camera Club membership cost is $25 per year (taxes included) for Hart House members. The first $15 is the club fee, and the second $10 goes for chemicals and equipment. You can buy a membership anytime at the Hart House HUB.

About the Hart House membership: Hart House membership is already included in student incidental fees for all University of Toronto students. There are two levels of Alumni membership: without athletic privileges at $140 per year and with full athletic privileges at $658 per year or $58 per month. Members are entitled to full access to the camera club’s facilities, resources and classes. For additional information, please call the HUB at (416) 978-2452 or visit http://harthouse.ca/about-us/membership/.

Step 4: Get an orientation and use the darkroom facilities

All new members must be taken through an orientation, given by a member of the Camera Club executive, or by an instructor. Orientations are given during the Curator hours listed under Contact. From then on you can sign out the keys at the HUB anytime and go down and use the facilities as often as you want.
