The Judges

Wolfram Eilenberger

Wolfram Eilenberger is a German writer and philosopher (Doctor of Philosophy). He is the author of five books (novel, narrative nonfiction and essays), a correspondent for the German monthly magazine Cicero and a former columnist for Die Zeit and Der Tagessspiegel. He teaches philosophy at the University of Toronto. His latest novel “Finnen von Sinnen” (Blanvalet/Random House) is coming out in March 2010.

Fernando Morales

20 years ago Fernando Morales took a camera for the first time and started documenting life around him. After completing his studies in photojournalism he secured a position as a staff photographer for La Nacion, a newspaper in Santiago Chile. Four years later, after getting tired of politics and sports – the main focus of his work - he decided to move, and got position with Agence France Presse in Guatemala. He spent the next five years of his life covering the social conflicts, natural disasters and daily life of the ravaged post civil war central American countries. In 2003 he moved to Toronto and started freelancing with The Globe and Mail, Canada’s National Newspaper, where he became Staff Photographer in 2006.

Miguel Jacob

Miguel Jacob is a Toronto-based photographer, born and raised in Lima, Peru. His editorial clients include FASHION and CHATELAINE magazine, of which he is a regular contributor, as well as FQ, Canadian Art, Glow and Wish. He has photographed advertising campaigns for David’s and Capezio, Bayview Village and Pink Tartan. His list of celebrity clients includes Michael Buble, Kreesha Turner, Fefe Dobson, Monika Schnarre, Anna Olsen and Sarah Richardson. His work has been exhibited at the Birch Libralato gallery and SHOWstudio.
